Personalized Baby Quilt

I have added a new item to my Etsy shop. These fabulous personalized baby/toddler quilts are a perfect gift for a special baby boy or girl.

I made this one for my third cousin (my mother’s cousin’s baby- LOL I had to Google it)

This is another example of meander/stipple quilting. It is a great overall pattern for quilts that will see a lot of use and lots of washing. I love this backing print and have been hoarding it for quite some time. I believe it’s by Timeless Treasures and has a very lovely Asian feel. You can purchase your own personalized baby quilt HERE.

Penny Meander Sale!

If you still have that quilt sitting in your home, you know... the one that was meant to be a Christmas present, here is your chance to get it over and done with. An all over meander/stipple is a great finish to quilts that will be loved often and will require constant washing. This is great for picnic quilts, baby quilts, pet quilts and throws.

I'm only accepting 6 quilts at this special price of 1 cent per square inch. Just fill out the customer worksheet and I'll get back to you with a firm price and an estimated turn around time.

Here are some quilts I have finished with an all over meander/stipple:

Loopy Hearts

Yesterday I practiced a design that I will be doing on the customer quilt that is currently hanging out in my sewing room. I call it loopy hearts.

This is actually stitched out in Essential Cotton thread. It was giving me fits and shredding often until I found the perfect tension and then it sewed like a dream! I listened to the feedback during the giveaway on my regular blog and so I have decided to offer cotton thread as an option. This thread is actually thicker than the polyester thread and comes in more colors.

Here is a close up of the stitching, which was also requested on my other blog. This design would be in Design Group #2 $0.02/sq. in.

I ‘Wannabe’ like Judi

I have admired Judi’s talent from the first day I stumbled upon her blog. Talk about amazing talent!!! Each quilt she posts is amazing. So yeah, I want to be like Judi. There’s only one way to do that: '”practice, practice, practice.”

Recently I purchased a new ruler foot and 2 new rulers. I got both of them in them in the mail yesterday so like a kid with a new toy I couldn’t wait to try them out. I’ll post an in depth review of each item soon.

Inspired by the quilt Judi posted recently I did this:

ruler_stitch

I probably should have looked at the picture before starting because I didn’t make my loops fill in the half triangles. I was going from memory and apparently my memory isn’t that great! I need more practice at thinking “upside down.” The loops at the top are shorter and rounder than the loops at the bottom. I made the top ones from right to left and the bottom ones from left to right, so that probably has something to do with it too.

… but look at those nice straight lines!!! I can’t wait to start using these rulers for customer quilts.

Anyway, go say hi to Judi (tell her I sent ya) and make sure to bring a rag to wipe up all the drool.

Thank you for the great suggestions, feedback, and kind words. I've got my second customer quilt on the design wall as we speak!

... and here is a picture of the first customer quilt I did before the baby was born:

Coming Soon

In the very near future I will be offering my services as a machine quilter. First things first though, I've got to work out all of the behind the scenes details like web design, pricing, accounting etc.
