FAQ

How long have you been quilting?
I started quilting when my first child was 3 months old. A friend of mine invited me to her home to make a quilt for the "baby." We hand quilted a "Bob the Builder" panel. Well she quilted 99% of it and I realized I was no good at hand quilting. Shortly after that experience I bought my first sewing machine. It was a bottom of the barrel no frills Kenmore sewing machine. The foot pedal was such a nightmare, one second it would barely stitch, the next second it would take off! It's a wonder I didn't throw in the towel after piecing my first quilt top, a twin sized quilt with lots of bias triangles. Ignorance was bliss, that poor quilt top belongs in a dark closet!
Now here I am 12 years later. I've since upgraded my sewing machine several times. No more runaway foot pedal for me. I love aspect of quilting, unless it involves hand quilting.

Is your machine computerized?
No. My machine is hand guided by me. I don't have a magic button to make the machine "go" all by itself. I stand at my machine for as long as it takes to get your quilt done.

How long will it take to get my quilt back?
This varies week to week and month to month depending on the number of quilts I have in my queue. Sometimes it will take a month to receive your quilt, other times it may take a week. Holidays, such as Christmas and Mother's Day, are pretty busy so it's best to get your quilt in line as soon as possible. I fill up pretty quickly and I will not take on more quilts than I can handle in any given month. If I am booked I can add you to the wait list. Previous customers have "dibs."

Why do you limit the number of quilts you take in per month?
I don't want to hoard your quilts any longer than I have to! I also don't want the weight of being responsible for 100 quilt tops at a time.
I also have a wonderful family with 3 young children. Machine quilting is something that I do in my spare time while they are at school. As much as I love machine quilting it I will not allow it to take over family time. I spend an average of 3 hours a day on my business: quilting, shipping, answering emails etc. I do not work on weekends or holidays and evenings are reserved for my family.
